The Discovery

Sirius

In the spring of 2009, while most of the world slept on the greatest invention since the internet, a curious cat stumbled upon something extraordinary.

Googling for "p2p currency"...

"I found the recently published Bitcoin white paper, which was the only completely decentralized solution out there. After reading it, I e-mailed Satoshi and offered him my help with the project."

Sirius discovered the Bitcoin whitepaper on a cryptography mailing list. While others dismissed it, Sirius saw the spark. He reached out to the anonymous creator through SourceForge with a simple message:

sirius@sourceforge.net → satoshi
Hello,

I'm Trickstern from the anti-state.com forum,
and I would like to help with Bitcoin, if there's
something I can do.

I have a good touch on Java and C languages...
I could also do testing or documentation.

Best regards,
Sirius

Satoshi Responds

?

Satoshi recognized Sirius immediately. A response came swiftly:

From: Satoshi Nakamoto

"Thanks for starting that topic on ASC, your understanding of bitcoin is spot on."

"What we need most right now is website writing. My writing is not that great, I'm a much better coder."

"One easy thing that really helps is to run a node that can accept incoming connections... to make sure that new users who try it out have someone to connect to. If they run it and get no connections, they'll probably just give up."

And just like that, the partnership that would change the world began. A mysterious coder and an orange cat, building the future of money.

The Legend

01

Second Developer

Besides Hal Finney doing some testing in early 2009, it was basically just Sirius and Satoshi working on Bitcoin until Gavin Andresen joined in 2010.

02

Forum Founder

Sirius provided hosting and co-founded the BitcoinTalk forum with Satoshi — the central hub that birthed the entire crypto community.

03

Domain Keeper

Satoshi transferred the bitcoin.org domain to Sirius — an act of absolute trust in a world of anonymity and zero trust.

04

First Price Maker

The first-ever Bitcoin trade: 5,050 BTC for $5.00. Today that stack would be worth over $400 million. Sirius set the first price of the world's most valuable asset.

05

Linux Pioneer

Ported the Windows-only Bitcoin client to Linux, opening Bitcoin to the entire open-source ecosystem.

06

Still HODLing

To this day, Sirius continues to hold Bitcoin. The cat who helped build it still believes in it.

Sirius

They'll argue about who Satoshi was. They'll build theories and produce guesses. But the truth? The truth was always right here — in the paws of a cat who believed, when nobody else did.
